Water rates at Springfield Utility Board (SUB) are very competitive. Your particular rate will be determined by where you are located and the kind of service you have. SUB works diligently on behalf of Springfield ratepayers to balance cost-effective rates with good, long-term stewardship of the water utility.
Residential Water Rate Inside City Limits
The current rate went into effect January 1, 2026 for bills rendered on or after February 1, 2026.

Customer Service Charge
- Basic charge: $29.40 per month for 3/4 inch meter inside city limits
Water Usage Rates
- Usage charge varies by time of year and number of units of water consumed (one unit is 748 gallons)
October to May
- First 13 units: $ 3.053 per unit
- Units 14 and over: $ 3.238 per unit
June to September
- First 13 units: $ 3.053 per unit
- Units 14 to 100: $ 3.206 per unit
- Units 101 and over: $ 3.507 per unit
Note: the typical SUB residential household averages about 8 units per month.
