As we move through the year, the IT team continues to make steady progress on several key initiatives from the IT roadmap that will support long-term operational efficiency, resiliency, and service delivery across the organization.
Microsoft Exchange (email)
We’re moving to the cloud! Outlook profiles are being moved to the cloud in batches by department. When it’s your department’s turn, you’ll receive an email update from Bruce with the next steps.
Phone System Replacement
Our phone system is nearing end-of-support and is need of replacement. We have completed the requirements gathering phase for a new system and issued an RFP as of May 11th. This effort has included valuable input from representatives across departments to ensure the future solution meets a wide range of operational needs. The vendor review will take place in two phases with our cross-departmental team to ensure all requirements are fully addressed. We anticipate selecting the final vendor by August.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System
Our ERP (Sage) will also be reaching end-of-support in 2027 and will need replaced. We have completed all of the discovery sessions (a total of 15!) with stakeholders to gather the needs of the new system, and are moving into the requirements development stage. We hope to post the RFP in June.
GIS Strategy Initiative
We are in the early stages of developing a GIS strategy designed to grow the system in use by the Water division and make room for the Electric division. While this initiative is in its infancy, we are moving quickly and laying the foundation for the Electric division to move forward.
Team Member Transitions
IT also has some new faces and roles!
Following Robb Frankiln’s retirement, we are pleased to welcome Jake Dooley as Network Engineer II.
Following Ted Glick’s retirement, we have our very own Josh Hughes serving as Interim DBA while we continue recruiting for a permanent replacement.
Meanwhile, April Poehlke is serving as our acting Project Manager, keeping our team initiatives on track.
