The Springfield Utility Board will be holding the second public hearings on December 14 regarding a proposed water rate increase and a proposed 2017 Budget. The Board held the first public hearings for the proposed rates and proposed budget at the Board Meeting on Wednesday, November 9. Following the public hearings in December, the Board will consider adoption of the proposed water rate increase and adoption of the 2017 Budget. The December 14 Board Meeting will begin at approximately 7:00 p.m. and the public hearings will be held under Business from the Board.
Due to increased capital and operating costs, SUB is proposing an overall water rate increase of 5 percent. All customer classes would experience a rate increase under the proposal. A residential SUB customer uses an average of 9 units each month and would experience an increase of $1.41 per month on average. Volumetric charges associated with hydrant permits are proposed to increase by 5 percent. Increases are also proposed for SUB’s water station costs. The increase is proposed to take effect on all billing statements rendered on or after January 1, 2017.
Copies of the proposed water rate increase and proposed budget will be available for public review prior to the public hearings. They may be reviewed at the SUB Main Office, 250 A Street, Springfield, Oregon.
To receive copies of the proposed Resolutions or rate structure by mail, or to obtain answers to questions about this proposal, please call Meredith Clark at 541-744-3794.
The public hearings will take place in SUB’s Board Meeting Room at 223 A Street, Suite F, Springfield, Oregon. The public is invited to attend this meeting.
