The Springfield Utility Board will hold its second public hearing on a proposal to increase SUB’s electric rate schedules. The first public hearing was held during the February 10 regular board meeting. The Board will again consider all comments offered by the public at the second public hearing to be held during its regular board meeting on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, to commence at approximately 6:00 p.m. Following the public hearing, the Board may take action to adopt the proposed rates.

The proposed electric rate increase, expected to be 2.0 percent, if approved at the March 10 board meeting and are to be effective April 1, 2021, on bill statements rendered on or after May 1, 2021, for schedules R-1, GS-1, GS-2, GS-3, L-1, L-2, L-3, L-4 and for the rates to be charged for electric supply and service upon the system of the Springfield Utility Board.

The Springfield Utility Board will also hold a public hearing on a proposal to increase SUB’s dark fiber rates. The Board will consider all comments made by the public during this public hearing to be held during its March 10 regular board meeting at approximately 6:00 p.m. Following the public hearing, the Board may take action to adopt the proposed rates.

The dark fiber rate change will propose an increase in dark fiber lease rates, expected to be 2.5 percent, and if approved at the March 10 board meeting, is to be effective April 1, 2021, on all bill statements rendered on or after May 1, 2021, for schedule DF-1 and for the rates to be charged for electric supply and service upon the system of the Springfield Utility Board.

The public is invited to join the public hearings during the regular board meeting, via phone or internet. Instructions to join will be available on the agenda posted to SUB’s website, prior to the virtual meeting.

The public will be prompted for comment at the appropriate times during the meeting. The public may also submit public comment in advance, to be entered into the record, via email to subboard@subutil.com by Noon on March 10.
