The Springfield Utility Board will hold two public hearings regarding a proposal to increase electric rates. The first public hearing was held during the Board meeting on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. No action was taken on the proposed electric rates at that meeting. The Board will consider all comments made by the public during this public hearing. The second public hearing will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

The proposed electric rate increase is expected to be 2.0 percent for schedules R-1, GS-1, GS-2, GS-3, L-1, L-2, L-3, L-4, and for the rates to be charged for electric supply and service upon the system of the Springfield Utility Board. If approved at the March 10 Board meeting, the effective date is expected to be April 1, 2021, for billing statements rendered on or after May 1, 2021.

The public is invited to join the public hearing during the regular Board meeting, via phone or internet. Instructions to join will be available on SUB’s website, prior to the virtual meeting.

If joining the public hearing/regular Board meeting, the public will be prompted for comment at the appropriate times during the meeting. The public may also submit public comment in advance, to be entered into the record, via email to subboard@subutil.com by Noon on Wednesday, February10.
