The Springfield Utility Board will be holding its second public hearings on the proposed 2021 Utility Operating Budget and the proposed water rate increase. The first public hearings for the proposed budget and proposed rates were held at the regular board meeting on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. The purpose of the first public hearings was to gather public input. No action was taken at the November 18 board meeting. The second and final public hearings will be held under Business from the Board during SUB’s regular board meeting on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.This meeting will commence at approximately 6:00 p.m., after the conclusion of the 5:00 p.m. executive session. Following the public hearings, the Board will consider taking action to adopt the proposed 2021 Budget and the proposed water rate increase.
Due to increased capital and operating costs, SUB is proposing an overall water rate increase of 5 percent. All customer classes would experience a rate increase under the proposal. The increase is proposed to take effect for service as of January 1, 2021, on all billing statements rendered on or after February 1, 2021, for such service.

The public is invited to join the public hearings during the regular board meeting, via phone or internet. Instructions to join will be available on SUB’s website, prior to the virtual meeting.
If joining the public hearings/regular board meeting, the public will be prompted for comment at the appropriate times during the meeting. The public may also submit public comment in advance, to be entered into the record, via email to firstname.lastname@example.org by Noon on December 9.
