SUB receives national award for power reliability

Safe, reliable power is something our customers expect, and something we work to deliver every day.

Springfield Utility Board is proud to have recently received national recognition for delivering on that core mission on behalf of Springfield. SUB received three American Public Power Association (APPA) awards, including the APPA Safety Award, a certificate of excellence for 2025 electric reliability, and the APPA's prestigious Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) designation.

The RP3 is a three-year designation that recognizes excellence in reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. SUB has held RP3 recognition at various levels since 2017 and is one of four public utilities in Oregon currently holding the designation.

This year, SUB achieved the program’s Diamond-level recognition, and is one of only two utilities in Oregon to reach that level.

This recognition reflects the daily work of our electric crews, engineers, and support staff who maintain and strengthen the system that serves our community. We’re proud to be recognized by APPA for our strong performance and long-term commitment to reliability.
