The Springfield Utility Board plans to hold its second public hearings on the proposed 2023 Utility Budget; a proposed overall 8.0 percent (8.0%) water rate increase with a proposed effective date January 1, 2023 on all bill statements rendered on or after February 1, 2023; a proposed 3.0 percent (3.0%) electric rate increase with a proposed effective date April 1, 2023 on all bill statements rendered on or after May 1, 2023; and a proposed 2.5 percent (2.5%) dark fiber rate increase with a proposed effective date on all bill statements rendered on or after May 1, 2023, for services on or after May 1, 2023. The second public hearings will be held in SUB’s Board Room located in the Annex Building at 223 A Street in Springfield, and will begin at approximately 6:00 p.m. The public hearings will be held under the Business from the Board portion of the meeting.
The first public hearings were held during the regular Board meeting on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Following the second public hearings on December 14, the Board is expected to consider adoption of the proposed water, electric, and dark fiber rate increases for 2023; as well as to consider adoption of the proposed 2023 Budget.
Members of the public are invited to join the December 14 regular Board meeting and public hearings to share input with the Board in-person, or remotely via phone or internet. Instructions to join remotely will be included on the agenda that will be available on SUB’s website at www.subutil.com prior to the meeting. The public may also submit public comment in advance to be entered into the record by Noon on December 14 by using the email link provided on the agenda.
