Notice of Executive Session & Public Hearing

Notice of executive session and public hearing during a regular Board meeting on proposed delay to the effective date for an electric rate increase.

The Springfield Utility Board plans to hold an executive session on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. pursuant to ORS 40.225, ORS 192.660(2)(e), and ORS 192.660(2)(f); attorney-client privilege, to deliberate with persons designated to negotiate real property transactions, and to consider information exempt by law from public inspection. The executive session is closed to the public.

The Springfield Utility Board will hold an open special session, at approximately 5:00 p.m., immediately following the 4:00 p.m. executive session on Wednesday, April 8. The purpose of the special session is for any further potential discussion or Board action as related to property matters.

The Springfield Utility Board also plans to hold a public hearing during its regular board meeting on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at approximately 6:00 p.m. to allow public comment on a proposed modification to the effective date of the approved increase to SUB’s electric utility rates. The Board may take action to delay the effective date of SUB’s electric utility rates by Resolution of the Board.

At the February 12, 2020, regular board meeting, the Board adopted Resolution 20-01, approving a 1.25 percent increase to SUB’s electric utility rates, with an effective date of April 1, 2020, for all billing statements rendered on or after May 1, 2020, and thereafter until further resolution of the Board.

Due to the Governor’s executive order to Stay Home, Save Lives, and SUB’s response to the situation, the public is encouraged to join the special session as well as the regular board meeting/public hearing via conference call. Those wishing to address the Board will be prompted to do so during the allowed times. The easiest way to join the conference call meetings is by following these instructions:

  1. Call-in via telephone or cell phone: DIAL (978) 990-5000
  2. When prompted, enter the conference ACCESS CODE: 483933, followed by the # key
  3. We ask that you please consider muting your phone to block out any background noise, (unless you are speaking to the Board during the allowed time)

The public will also have access to the regular board meeting and public hearing at SUB’s Board Room, located in the Annex Building at 223 A Street, Springfield. Six feet of social distancing will be required, and equipment will be sanitized between each individual public comment.
