Pole repair work – Ice storm update 1-29-24

As part of the post-storm restoration process, SUB is replacing a pole on 5th and Hayden Bridge Road. We expect the planned outage to last from 8:30 a.m. to 5 pm.

This will result in a temporary loss of power for about 200 customers north of Hayden Bridge Road to the river, and between Blackstone / 6th to Manor Drive.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to make permanent repairs to our system after this historic ice storm!

8:30 am UPDATE

Crews made significant progress yesterday, and we estimate that we have fewer than 150 customers remaining.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that customers who do not have power call our outage line at 541-726-2395. We have a low call volume so you should be to get through very quickly.

PLEASE ALSO CALL if you have electric infrastructure debris that needs to be picked up.

SUB water crews are supporting our restoration efforts by clearing away storm-damaged electric materials. You can assist by letting us know where these materials are so we can schedule pick-up.

We expect all known outages, with the exception of the infrastructure projects noted in the list below, to be restored by the end of day tomorrow, January 29.

Areas needing additional work are listed below. Most are infrastructure projects that support SUB’s electric and fiber systems:

·         I-5 crossing – estimated date of restoration February 2
·         McKenzie River crossing – estimated date of restoration January 29
·         Thurston Hills Natural area – TBD
·         Quarry Hill – TBD

9 a.m. UPDATECrews are now reconfigured into smaller teams and are repairing damage and restoring clusters of home and individual homes throughout the city.We continue to make progress and were able to cut the number of customers without power by about half yesterday.We currently estimate that about 500 homes are awaiting restoration.One challenge crews have experienced in at least two locations is stolen downed wire. In one instance, an individual was apprehended by law enforcement.Wire theft is a serious issue and delays crew work.
