ESTIMATED BILLS
We understand that it can be frustrating to get any bill after an outage. Our goal and commitment is to ensure that the billing is accurate for customers.
Because of the hazards of the ice storm, SUB did not physically read meters from January 16 to January 28 and instead activated our Estimation Program. This is a rare occurrence.
During the Estimation period, our computer program finds any unread electric or water meters and estimates the usage based on customer usage data. We bill based on that estimate.
The following month, when normal meter reading operations have resumed (for this event, that was January 29th) the next bill is based on actual usage from the last physical read we were able to take, to the latest read, so customers will only be billed for the electricity and water used during that period.
