To set up temporary water for your project:
1. Contact SUB’s Water Service Center at 541-726-2396 to request temporary water service and to provide necessary service location information. If you are a new SUB water customer, you may be referred to our main office to create an account.
2. The Water Service Center will determine if temporary water is available to your site through an existing onsite water service or an existing nearby fire hydrant.
3. If an existing service within the service location is available and requested for temporary water, the Water Service Center will coordinate and provide a temporary water connection point at the existing water service location.
4. To request temporary water service from an existing hydrant, you must complete and submit a hydrant permit application, which is available from the Water Service Center. Once the application is approved and the permit fees are paid, the Water Service Center will coordinate and provide a temporary water connection point at the existing hydrant location.
To initiate permanent water service for your project:
1. Contact SUB’s Water Service Center at 541-726-2396 to begin.
SUB will assign a Water Engineering Technician to help guide you through the process.
2. Work with the Water Engineering Technician to determine whether you will sign and complete a Water Meter Sizing Form, or enter the Design and Construction Process for Land Division.
- The Water Meter Sizing Form is used when a development requires water service(s) for a single tax lot and owner.
- SUB will design and construct all water services required in this process. See step 3 below for details.
- The Design and Construction Process for Land Division, Subdivision, and Partitions is used when a development requires water services for multiple tax lots and owners.
- In this process, you will be responsible for designing and constructing the new water facilities required for your proposed development. SUB will perform water plan reviews, water construction inspections, and provide and construct necessary water connection point(s) tied to SUB’s live water system. See step 4 below for details.
3. If you are following the Water Meter Sizing Form Process:
- SUB will provide a Water Meter Sizing Form for you to complete, sign and submit to your assigned Water Engineering Technician. The Water Meter Sizing Form will account for domestic, irrigation and fire services. All site fire requirements are determined and enforced by the City Fire Marshal. SUB's Water Service Center provides and constructs the fire service.
- SUB's Water Engineering Technician will use the information on your completed Water Meter Sizing Form to appropriately size the water service and recommend a water meter that meets the needs of your development.
- Your Water Engineering Technician will share the recommended water meter size with you. You will then use this information to determine if the recommended water meter size is adequate for your development or if another water meter size is preferred.
- Once the meter size has been determined, contact your Water Engineering Technician to let us know that you are ready to move forward, and indicate either the recommended or preferred water meter size.
- Your Water Engineering Technician will design and estimate the work required to install the selected water meter and fire service (if applicable) to SUB Water Service Center's current design standards. Coordination with you and/or your contractor may be necessary to complete this step (i.e. desired water meter and fire line location, development plans, timing of construction, etc.).
- Your Water Engineering Technician will send an approved Cost Letter and Water Service Estimate to you. Backflow Prevention requirements and information will also be provided at this time.
- Once the water service estimate is paid, the water service(s) installation work will be entered into the Water Service Center's construction schedule. Your Water Engineering Technician will share estimated construction timing with you and coordinate the work as needed.
- SUB's Water Service Center will construct and install the water service(s) to the development.
4. Design and Construction Process for Land Division, Subdivision, and Partitions
- When following this process, the Water Engineering Technician assigned to your development will be referred to as the ‘Program Manager’ for your project. The Program Manager will be your main point of contact and will guide you through the water service design, the inspection, and the construction of your development.
- Your Program Manager will issue the following documents at the start of this process:
- Land Division, Subdivision, and Partition Design and Construction Notification letter
- Land Division, Subdivision, and Partition Design and Construction process
- Preliminary Design-Build Agreement
- Preliminary Letter of Agreement
- Preliminary Attachment 1 – Summary of Charges template
(For reference only, no specific project costs will be presented at this time.)
- Per SUB policy, a $500 Advanced Engineering Fee will be collected from you prior to beginning the next step in this process.
- The Land Division, Subdivision, and Partition Design and Construction process document (referenced above) outlines and provides details on the required steps to acquire water service for your development. These steps are summarized as follows:
- Pre-design Meeting
- Required Water Plan Reviews (50% and 90%)
- Final Water Plan Approval, System Development Charge (SDC), and Service Connection Charge
- Materials Submittals, Pressure Testing and Chlorination Plan
- Pre-Construction Meeting
- Project Substantial Completion and Warranty Bond
- Project Acceptance
- Project Completion
- Your project will be considered complete after the one-year warranty bond period has been successfully achieved. You must request, in writing, for release of the bond after the warranty period has expired.
