Water Quality: Marcola Road Water Line Replacement

Springfield Utility Board will begin construction June 29th, 2009 to replace an aging water transmission line along Marcola Road between 22nd Street and 28th Street.

The project is estimated to take approximately two months to complete. During this time, sidewalks may be closed, but two-way traffic will remain open. Customers should NOT experience any changes to water quality or pressure during this time. However, some customers will experience a short, temporary water outage as their service is switched to the new water lines. All customers will be notified prior to any scheduled outages.

The water line replacement is part of SUB’s routine maintenance program, a necessary part of ensuring the high quality and reliability of Springfield’s drinking water supply.

Questions can be directed to SUB’s water service center at 726-2396.
