The Springfield Utility Board will be holding public hearings in November and December regarding a proposed water rate increase and the proposed 2020 Budget. The first public hearings for the proposed rates and proposed budget will be held at the Regular Board Meeting on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. The purpose of these first public hearings is to gather public input. No action will be taken at the November 13 Board Meeting. The second and final public hearings will be held at the Regular Board Meeting on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. Following the public hearings in December, the Board will consider adoption of the proposed water rate increase and adoption of the 2020 Budget. The November 13, and December 11, Regular Board Meetings will begin at approximately 6:00 p.m. and the public hearings will be held under Business from the Board.

Due to increased capital and operating costs, SUB is proposing an overall water rate increase of 9 percent. All customer classes would experience a rate increase under the proposal. The increase is proposed to take effect as of January 1, 2020, on all billing statements rendered on or after February 1, 2020.

Copies of the proposed water rate increase and proposed budget will be available for public review prior to the public hearings. They may be reviewed at the SUB Main Office, 250 A Street, Springfield, Oregon.
