The Springfield Utility Board will be holding public hearings in November and December regarding a proposed water rate increase and a proposed 2019 Budget. The first public hearings for the proposed rates and proposed budget will be held at the Regular Board Meeting on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. The purpose of these first public hearings is to gather public input. No action will be taken at the November 14 Board Meeting. The second and final public hearings will be held at the Board Meeting on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Following the public hearings in December, the Board will consider adoption of the proposed water rate increase and adoption of the 2019 Budget. The November 14, and December 12, Regular Board Meetings will begin at approximately 6:00 p.m. and the public hearings will be held under Business from the Board.

Due to increased capital and operating costs, SUB is proposing an overall water rate increase of 4 percent. All customer classes would experience a rate increase under the proposal. With a 4 percent increase, a residential SUB customer uses an average of 9 units each month and would experience an increase of $1.28 per month on average. The increase is proposed to take effect on all billing statements rendered on or after January 1, 2019.
