SPRINGFIELD UTILITY BOARD PROPOSED DARK FIBER RATE INCREASE AND MODIFICATIONS TO DARK FIBER AND ELECTRIC RATE SCHEDULES FOR PRIVATE LIGHTING SERVICES

The Springfield Utility Board will be considering two resolutions at two public hearings on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. Resolution 2016-4 will be for a proposal to add a Private Lighting Service under Electric Rate Schedule L-4 for LED lighting. Service under Electric Rate Schedule L-3 will no longer be offered for new or replacement lighting requests. Resolution 2016-5 will be to modify SUB’s Dark Fiber Schedule DF-1 and to adopt a rate increase for the Dark Fiber. The first two public hearings to consider these proposals were held on May 11. SUB is holding the second and final set of public hearings for these proposals on June 8, prior to taking action.

The proposed electric rate change will include a new schedule for LED lighting services. The Dark Fiber rate change will propose an increase in Dark Fiber lease rates of approximately 5% as well as a new rate for single-strand fiber. The new rate schedules will be effective on billing statements rendered on or after July 1, 2016.

Copies of the proposed lighting schedule and dark fiber rates and the supporting methodology will be available for public review prior to the public hearing:
