Electric Service: Rates & Billing

SUB Schedules Public Hearing to Consider April 2012 Electric Rate Increase

The Springfield Utility Board will be considering a Resolution at a public hearing on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., regarding proposed electric rate increases and modifications to electric rate schedules.

Due to increased power costs, SUB Staff are proposing a four percent increase to SUB’s overall electric rate design, to be effective on billing statements rendered on or after April 1, 2012.  All customer classes and schedules would be subject to the rate increase under the proposal; Residential, General Service (“GS”) with demand equal to or less than 40kW, GS with demand greater than 40kW and equal to or less than 3000kW, GS Customers with demands greater than 3000kW, and all Lighting Customers.

For customers and others interesting in reviewing the proposed changes, the following items are available by clicking on the links below. They may also be reviewed at SUB’s Main Office at 250 A Street, Springfield, Oregon. SUB bills monthly for water and electricity used in the previous month. As a convenience, your bill also shows City of Springfield sewer charges. That way, you need to write only one check for your electricity, water, and sewer/stormwater, and the City (and its taxpayers), saves significantly on the cost of mailing statements.

Your bill is based on your consumption as recorded by your household water and electric meters from the first day of the billing cycle to the last. It shows how much that usage costs given current electric and water rates. Click here to see a sample SUB bill, which includes a guide to reading your bill.

SUB customers pay some of the lowest electricity rates in the nation. Your particular rate will be determined by the kind of service you have (i.e. residential, commercial or industrial). A detailed electricity rate schedule is available by following the link referenced above.
