Paying your Bill: Stabilizing your Bill
No matter how you choose to pay your bill, you can stabilize the amount of your monthly payments by signing up for SUB’s Average Payment Plan (APP). This is a powerful budgeting tool that eliminates the highs and lows common to utility payments in the Pacific Northwest, where we use lots of electricity in winter, and much less in summer. Here's how it works:
After enrolling in April or May, SUB will continue to read your meters every month, but instead of billing you for your actual usage, we’ll bill you each month for the average of your previous 12 months’ charges. That way your bills will be about the same from month-to-month.
Each April, SUB sends out a “catch up” bill. If you used more electricity during the year than was predicted by your average, SUB will bill that amount on your April statement. If you used less, SUB owes you and will automatically apply the credit to your account.
You can participate in this plan if:
- Your account is paid in full, and
- You’ve been at your current address for at least one year.
If you meet both conditions, sign up during the April and May enrollment period by filling out the APP form. Enrollment forms will also be sent out in your billing statement during April, or call SUB at 541-746-8451.
